Eco-Friendly Products at Lavenderology™

Greetings Lavender Buds,

I wanted to take a few moments to share with you some of the ways Lavenderology™  works to bring you a "greener" product line.  When developing and designing the products and packaging, I thought beyond the presentation.  I also thought of the end result and where the containers may end up as well.  This guided me towards packaging that is reusable and/or recyclable.   You'll find that all the products in the line are packaged in PETE plastic (plastic that does not break down and seep into the contents) and is also able to be recycled.  Also aluminum, steel, glass and cardboard items as well that can also be recycled.

The green goes on at Lavenderology™ into the packaging and shipping as well.  Many of the suppliers of the raw materials and packaging ship their items in various types of packing materials like bubble wrap, air packs, paper wraps and styrofoam peanuts. I am going to reuse these items to package the orders that are shipped to Lavenderology™ customers. However, in the instance that I need packing materials, rest assured I will only purchase biodegradable packing peanuts that break down in water.

In addition, you will not find printed invoices in the order boxes.  All invoices are email generated, you have the option to print one if you like, but paperless saves trees!

Not only that, refills will provide a way to give customers more bank for their buck, larger sizes to refill their existing Bath Salt Containers, Magic Powder Shakers and Herb Tins too!

Lavender Sugar Scrub at Lavenderology™

Greetings Lavender Buds,

Over the years I've used many different Sugar Scrubs, a common denominator with each was that they seemed to be half of sugars and half of oil; meaning you'd need to stir the concoction prior to use.  This was a very goopy, messy project each time you wanted a nice little 'sugar buff'.

Several years ago when I decided to develop my own Lavender Sugar Scrub recipe, I wanted a Lavender Sugar Scrub that offered the amazing skin smoothing exfoliation and also the amazing moisturization as well, but without the goopy oil soup.   After tinkering with many batches, I finally found my perfectly balanced blend of Organic Sugars and Oils.

The Lavender Sugar Scrub at Lavenderology™ is a sugary bliss with no goopy mess, meaning you have more sugar for your dollar = more "stuff for your buff" per container!

The blend of Organic Sugars will gently remove impurties from the skin's surface while rejuvenating, smoothing, sloughing and cleansing.  Sugar naturally contains glycolic acid which is an alpha-hydroxy acid, a crucial part of maintaining healthy skin.  The glycolic acid in sugar not only helps condition and moisturize skin, but protects it from environmental toxins as well.  In addition I only use pure and Organic Raw Sugars that are not processed.  No molasses, no bleaching, just the real deal, sweet!

This Lavender Sugar Scrub is great for dry areas like knees and elbows, it's also fantastic for silky legs (use before shaving).  If you are seeking a sparkling smooth birthday suit, you can gently scrub even your hiney for bootylicious softness!  You can also use as part of a manicure and/or pedicure (rinse and dry your well to prevent slipping on the oil rich blend)   Simply fantastic when combined with the Lavenderology™ Whipped Shea!
I invite you to explore "The Lavender Buzz" at Lavenderology.com for more information, tips and uses for Lavender Sugar Scrub and Lavenderology's other Lavender Products.

Handmade Artisan Lavender Soap Bars at Lavenderology™

Greetings Lavender Buds,

Lavenderology™ introduces two Artisan Style Cold Process Soaps, the "Flower Bar" and the "Purple Bar".  Before one can appreciate the true nature of Handmade Artisian Lavender Soap Bars one might like to know a very brief history on the process of soap making...

Soap found its way to the United States back in 1608 when Soapmakers made it here via a boat journey from Europe, settlers heading to the Americas to start a new life.  Over 400 years ago, soap was made over fires with huge cauldrons; now most soapmaking is done in industrial facilities in large quantities for mass production and big box store sales, but truly "handmade" soap is made on a much smaller scale. Literally hand measured, blended, cut, cured, cut again and packaged with with more control and in more intimate quantities, of course being sold on a much smaller scale.

Soap is made via a process called "saponification", this is the process where oils become soap.  Saponification requires literally cooking a combination of ingredients, mainly oils/fats with an alkali solution in order to have a reaction that results in actual soap.  Once the batch has reached a liquid point in the process called 'trace' it is ready to pour into a mold.  Once the soap "sets" it can be cut into loaves or bars to cure.  The curing process takes 3 to 8 weeks allowing the soap to harden and the Ph level to drop. Lavenderology™ bars cure a minimum of 8 weeks to ensure a most delicious aroma and lather!

NO Parabens. NO Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. NO unnatural preservatives. NO Petroleum Products.

Lavenderology™ Soap Bars are made with all natural vegetable ingredients like Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Organic Palm Oil, Soy Oil,  Sunflower Oil,  Shea Butter and Lavender Essential Oil.

The Organic Palm Oil used in the Lavenderology™ Bars is from a renewable resource and does NOT contribute to deforestation.

The Lavenderology™  "Flower Bar" is a creamy natural ivory color with added lavender flowers sprinkled within for a gorgeous speckled appearance.  The "Purple Bar" is a stunning swirled purple with natural ultramarine mineral pigments hand blended into each batch.

Crafted and cured in an Artisian Style, the Lavenderology™ bars have a rustic and un-polished look.  Poured into slab style molds, once set they are cut into loaves where they cure.  Then they are hand cut into generous sized 3 oz bars that will last you a very long time!

Lavenderology's™ Dead Sea Bath Salts : Benefits of Dead Sea Salts

Greetings Lavender Buds!

Mother Earth gifts us with an abundance of different kinds of salts, some used for cooking, some for cleaning, some for soap making and my favorite one goes into the Lavenderology™ Lavender Bath Salts!  When formulating my Lavender Bath Salts I had a wide selection of salts from around the globe, however I chose Dead Sea Salts to use in my blend.

Why are these salts called "Dead Sea Salts"?  Simple, they are from the Dead Sea in Isreal.  The specific salts that I use in the Lavenderology™
Lavender Bath Salts are considered 'raw' salts harvested from the Southern Side of the lake where mineral content is highest.  These Dead Sea Bath Salts are:  Certified, 100% pure and natural, unbleached, not refined in any way and none of the minerals are depleted or harvested out.

These are the BEST Dead Sea Bath Salts available!

Now, WHY is this specific salt so special?   Firstly, the Dead Sea (which is actually NOT a sea, it's a salt lake where rivers and streams run IN and not out!).  This lake is the 2nd 'saltiest' body of water on the planet, comprised of 33% salt.  This salt is filled with 21 different minerals that mimic the minerals found within the human body, which may be part of the reason it has such amazing healing abilities treating things like acne, cellulite, dandruff, dry skin, hair loss, hives, insomnia, muscle aches, psoriasis, stress, wrinkles and much more ~ including replacing lost minerals within the body and balancing the body inside and out.

The amazing Dead Sea Salts, when combined with Lavender Essential Oil and a few other key ingredients create Lavender Dead Sea Bath Salts and become a healing powerhouse!

As Lavenderology grows "The Lavender Buzz" will expand and you'll find many Articles and Videos offering more information, tips and uses as I will be going over many of the individual treatments you can do with the Lavenderology™ Dead Sea Bath Salts.

Lavender Essential Oil : Benefits and Uses

Greetings Lavender Buds!

While the Lavenderology™ line features different Essential Oils in the product line, the main Essential Oil found in every product is Lavender.  Lavender Essential Oil has a sweet herbal aroma with a floral/woodsy combination of notes. Widely recognized and loved by many!   Today I'm going to talk about Essential Oils in general, then I'll focus on the benefits of Lavender Essential Oil specifically.

Essential Oils : What ARE Essential Oils?   An Essential Oil, simply put, is what gives spices and herbs their specific scent and flavor and flowerrs and fruit their aroma.

Each plant can have a different source of its oil; balsam, bark, flowers, leaves, resin, roots, skin, wood... Some plants have multiple sources of different oils, producing different oils and aromas from different parts. (i.e. the bud, petals, leaves, stem all on one plantt...)

How can Essential Oils be beneficial?  There are three ways Essential Oils can interract with the human body:

1)  Pharmacological:  The chemical change that takes place when an Essential Oil enters the blood stream and reacts with hormones and enzymes.

2)  Physiological : How Essential Oils affect the sysem of he body.

3)  Psychological: When the essence is inhaled and the body responds to the aroma.

Many believe that the benefits of an Essential Oil are purely from inhaling the aroma, though it is true that the aromatic essence comes into play, a large part of the benefits of an Essential Oil are how the body interacts and the physical changes that happen.

Though used for thousands of years with pleasing effects and all sorts of treatments;  people are still studying the amazing benefits of Essential Oils on the body and mind.  While different Essential Oils can have positive effects on specific parts of the body, even certain organs within the body, nervous systems, etc... the study is immense on finding out more ways we can use nature ~ harnassing the pure essence of Essential Oils to benefit the human body.

For people, who like me who prefer alternative treatments to prescription medications, this is a huge plus!

What we know for sure is certain oils heal the body and mind and this is where Lavenderology™ comes into play.  At Lavenderology™ I focus on the pure Essential Oil of Lavender.  Mostly used in the World for it's aroma in fragrang applications, Lavender is being used more and more as a healing agent for problems from head to toe.

With many methods of use from ingesting flowers as a food or sipping as a tea, inhaling aromas, or soaking in a tub ~ there are as many ways to USE the oil (and plant) as there are things to treat!

Below are the main things that Lavender Essential Oil can be used for:

Skin Care:  Abcesses, acne, allergies, athlete's foot, boils, bruises, burns, dandruff, dermatitis, earache, eczema, inflammations, insect bites/stings, insect repellent, lice, psoriasis, ringworm, scabies, sores, spots, sunburn, wounds.

Circulation, Muscles and Joints: Lumbago, muscular aches/pains, rheumatism, sprains.

Respiratory System: Abdominal cramps, colic, dyspepsia, flatulence, nausea.

Genito-urinary System: Cystitis, dusmenorrhea, leucorrhea.

Immune System: flu.

Nervous System: Depression, headache, hypertension, insomnia, migraine, nervous tension/stress-related conditions, PMT, sciatica, shock, vertigo.

With that said be sure to check out "The Lavender Buzz" at Lavenderology.com as the article collection will be growing  and sharing more information, tips and uses for the products at Lavenderology™.

Organic Shea and Jojoba Healing Salve

Greetings Lavender Buds,

Lavenderology™ offers an Organic Shea Healing Salve ~ hand blended with Organic, 100% Natural, Unrefined Shea Butter, Organic Jojoba and Lavender Essential Oil.  When I receive the raw Shea Butter, it is not dried out and crumbly like most unrefined Shea Butters, it actually has a rich and creamy texture due to the natural methods of extraction.

What to Expect: Unrefined Shea Butter has a powerful 'raw' fragrance, some love it, some don't!  It has been described as "green" and/or "nutty" ~ in my blend it has a lavender low note from the added Lavender Essential Oil.  This thick balm has the consistency of stiffened buttercream.

Directions:  Use the provided spatula to remove a small amount (a little goes a LONG way). You'll find the salve becomes soft on contact with the heat of your skin and it instantly 'melts' into the skin on contact.  This Healing Salve is great for eye lines, nails, cuticles, hands, elbows, knees, feet and beyond...

I'm happy to blend these ingredients into a healing, skin soothing Healing Salve!

Unrefined Shea Butter naturally contains essential fatty acids and vitamins A, D, E and F.  In addition it is skin soothing for a variety of skin conditions.  No worries, Shea will not clog your pores!

This Shea Butter is blended with 100% Natural, Organic, Unrefined Jojoba Oil (pronounced ho-ho-bah).  Jojoba is an amazing oil to blend with Shea butter as it mimics our own skin's sebum.  The Jojoba used is Golden Jojoba, some Jojobas are refined to remove the natural color making them 'clear'. I believe the less refined, the better, leaving more of the natural essence within the product.

Jojoba will not clog your pores, and it will blend with the Shea as a thick, buttery cream that goes on easily, melting into the skin ~ absorbing quickly while leaving you soft and smooth.  Jojoba is also vitamin and mineral packed with naturally occuring anti bacterial properties.

Lavenderology™ takes pride in offering you such a high quality, organic Healing Salve crafted with the finest ingredients.  I hope you'll appreciate the naturalness of this organic Healing Salve as much as I do!
